CDEbox for School Facilities
CDEbox is a secure, cloud-based, collaborative, online file sharing Website. It was initiated by the California Department of Education (CDE) to allow greater transparency and communication between CDE staff and designated stakeholders.Overview
CDEbox for School Facilities is a group within CDEbox that has been created as an online collaboration site for all school construction/modernization projects and site approval applications submitted to the California Department of Education (CDE) School Facilities and Transportation Services Division. CDEbox for School Facilities has been developed to facilitate project submittal to the CDE electronically and to make the processing of applications more transparent to our clients. Use of CDEbox is not mandatory and projects may still be submitted only as a hardcopy.
How to submit a school construction/modernization project to CDE using CDEbox for School Facilities
When you are ready to submit a school facilities project (i.e., ready to upload all required form documents) to CDE for review and approval, first fill out the CDE Form 100 – Project Start Notice. This form must be filled out by the local educational agency (LEA) and only allows one project per form. On the Form 100 you will enter the project's information and a list of LEA-identified collaborators (e.g., staff, consultants) for the project. A new Form 100 must be submitted for each CDE approval requested (i.e., preliminary plan, final plan, contingent site, and final site), even if it is a new approval for a previously approved project.
Once you submit the Form 100, the CDE will create the project folder and assign a District Project (DP) number. After the folder is created, the LEA and all collaborators listed on the form will receive an email invitation into that project folder in CDEbox for School Facilities.
The LEA can make changes to the list of collaborators on their project at anytime by going back to the CDE website and filling out the CDE Form 100 again. This time you will select the “Make Changes to Collaborators” and submit. These changes will be made within 24 hours.
