1. Full Instructional Quality Commission
   1. Call to Order
      The Commission Chair Costa-Hernández called the meeting to order at approximately 10 a.m.
      
      
   2. Salute to the Flag
      Commission Chair Costa-Hernández led the salute to the flag.
      
      
   3. Administration of Oath of Office
      State Board of Education (SBE) Vice President Cynthia Glover Woods swore in student member, Meera Chakradeo.
      
      
   4. Overview of Agenda
      Commission Chair Costa-Hernández gave an overview of the agenda.
      
      
   5. Approval of Minutes for the April 20, 2022, Commission Meeting (Action)
      ACTION: Commissioner Astorga-Almanza moved to approve the April 20, 2022, Commission meeting minutes. Commissioner Jarvis seconded the motion. There was no discussion or public comment. The motion was approved by a roll call vote of the members present (13–0). Commissioners Gotanda and Friedman were absent from the meeting, as well as Assemblymember Ramos and Senator Allen.
      
      
   6. Report of the Chair
      Commission Chair Costa-Hernández gave a report.
      
      
   7. Report of the Deputy Superintendent
      Deputy Superintendent Cheryl Cotton gave a report.
      
      
   8. Report of the Executive Director’s
      Executive Director Mike Torres gave a report.
      
      
   9. Report of the State Board of Education (SBE)
      SBE liaisons Glover Woods and Lewis reported on the activities of the SBE.
      
      
   10. Approve Revised 2023 Meeting Dates (Action)
       There were no speakers to give public comment.
       
       ACTION: Commissioner Williamson moved to approve the revised 2023 IQC meeting dates. Commissioner Young seconded the motion. There was no further discussion. The motion was approved by a roll call vote of the members present (13–0). Commissioners Gotanda and Friedman were absent from the meeting, as well as Assemblymember Ramos and Senator Allen. Commissioner Astorga-Almanza was absent for the vote.
       
       
   11. Arts, Music, and Instructional Materials Discretionary Block Grant (Information)
       The Commission received a presentation from staff on the Arts, Music, and Instructional Materials Discretionary Block Grant. There was no public comment.
       
       
   12. Plan January 2023 New Commissioner Orientation (Discussion)
       The Commission discussed the upcoming January 2023 new Commissioner orientation. There was no public comment.
       
       
   13. Commissioner Acknowledgments (Discussion)
       This was the last meeting for Commissioners Costa Hernández, Phanthai, Rustin, and Williamson with their terms on the Commission ending. Commissioners acknowledged their work while on the Commission. Commissioners Costa Hernández, Phanthai, Rustin, and Williamson also shared some parting words and reflected on their time on the Commission. There was no public comment.
       
       
   14. Assessment Update (Information)
       This item was moved to before Item M. Commission received an assessment update presentation from staff. There was no public comment.
       
       
   15. Adjournment
       Commission Chair Costa-Hernández adjourned the meeting at approximately 12:13 p.m.
