1. Call to Order

Introductions
Member Costa joined the meeting via teleconference from the Chancellor's Conference Room located in Oakland, California.

Chair Grande called the meeting to order at approximately 10:07 a.m.

Approval of Meeting Minutes

  • September 19, 2018
    Member Phan moved to approve the September 19, 2018 meeting minutes with the correction to the spelling of his last name.

    Member Ortiz-Licon seconded the motion.
    • Yes Votes: Members Costa, Ortiz-Licon, Phan, and Sun
    • No votes: None
    • Member Absent: Member Rucker
    • Recusals: None

      The motion passed with four votes.

  • November 26, 2018
    Member Sun moved to approve the November 26, 2018 meeting minutes with the correction to the spelling of Member Phan’s last name.

    Member Phan seconded the motion.

2. Guiding Policy Principles to Support K–14+ Pathways

Vice Chair Sun presented on the history and development of the Committee’s Guiding Policy Principles to Support K–14+ Pathways.

Summary of Public Feedback on the Guiding Principles
Lisa Reimers, Education Programs Consultant, Career and College Transition Division, CDE presented the public feedback received for the Guiding Policy Principles to Support K–14+ Pathways and potential recommendations.

3. California Initiatives Update
  • Update of the Metrics Discussion
    Donna Wyatt, Director, Career and College Transition Division, CDE provided an update to Committee members on the timeline and activities targeting the metric recommendations for the two California initiatives.
  • Career Technical Education Incentive Grant
    Michelle McIntosh, Administrator, Career Technical Education Leadership Office, Career and College Transition Division, CDE provided an update to Committee members on the timeline and activities on the Career Technical Education Incentive Grant (CTEIG).
  • K-12 Strong Workforce Program
    Matt Roberts, Dean of Workforce and Economic Development, CCCCO provided an update to Committee members on the timeline and activities, including the engagement meetings, on the K–12 Strong Workforce Program (K12SWP).
4. Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21stCentury Act Planning

Donna Wyatt and Matt Roberts presented the current requirements for the state’s 2019-2020 transition plan for the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21stCentury Act (Perkins V).

5. Public Comment

Chair Grande asked for public comment.
