Chair Grande called the meeting to order at approximately 1:09 P.M.

Approval of the Preliminary Report of Action

• January 31, 2020
  • Vice Chair Grande moved to approve the January 31, 2020 meeting’s Preliminary Report of Action.
  • Member Rawlings seconded the motion.
    • Yes Votes: Chair Sun, Vice Chair Grande, Member Rucker, and Member Salazar
    • No votes: None
    • Member Absent: Member Ortiz-Licon
    • Abstentions: Member Rawlings
    • Recusals: None
    The motion passed with four votes.

Subject: The Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21^st Century Act: Final Review and Approval of the Draft Federal Perkins V State Plan.

Type of Action: Action, Information

Recommendation: The SBE, CDE, and the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO) staff jointly recommend that the CWPJAC review and approve the Draft Federal State Plan to be presented for approval to the SBE at its March 2020 meeting.

Comments from Committee Members:

• Committee members had editorial changes to be made prior to the Draft Federal Perkins V State Plan being presented to the SBE.

Public Comment:

• Mike Patterson is concerned about the teacher pipeline
• Mary Jo Edmondson would like to see Work Experience Education be included in the state plan as an active stakeholder.

Action:

• Vice Chair Grande moved to approve Draft Federal Perkins V State Plan, with the changes discussed during the meeting, to be presented for approval by the SBE.
• Member Salazar seconded the motion.
  • Yes Votes: Chair Sun, Vice Chair Grande, Member Rawlings, Member Rucker, and Member Salazar
  • No votes: None
  • Member Absent: Member Ortiz-Licon
