Long descriptions for complex figures and tables in Chapter Three of the Health Education Framework for California Public Schools, Kindergarten through Grade Twelve.

Title: Four-Step Decision-Making Process for Pre-Kindergarten through Grade Two

There are four square boxes separated by a right-pointing arrow to indicate the order of the steps in the decision-making process. From left to right, the boxes are labeled, “Step 1, Identify Decision,” “Step 2, Need Help?,” “Step 3, Make Decision,” and “Step 4, Describe Outcome.”

In the Step 1 box is an image of two hands, each facing palms up. In one palm is the letter “A” and in the other is the letter “B” to indicate decisions to be made.

Title: Wellness Wheel

This image illustrates the seven components of overall health.

The wellness wheel is a circle divided into seven equal sections. Each section is labeled with one component of health and well-being. Clockwise from the top of the circle, the sections are labeled: “Emotional,” “Social,” “Financial,” “Academic,” “Environmental,” “Spiritual,” and “Physical.”

In the Emotional section is a drawing of one happy face and one sad face. In the Social section is a figure with three connecting circles to indicate social connections between people. In the Financial section is a drawing of American currency. In the Academic section is a drawing of a laptop computer. In the Environmental section is a drawing of a leaf. In the Spiritual section is a drawing of a person in a sitting meditation pose. In the Physical section is a drawing of a person jogging.

Title: Sample Worksheet for My Body, My Boundaries

This image is a student worksheet on which students will be asked to write names of family members, a trusted adult, and a friend and then circle what type of touch they are comfortable receiving from each person.

The worksheet is titled “My Body, My Boundaries” and is divided into four equal sections. All four sections have these words relating to touch: “Hug,” “Kiss,” “Handshake,” “High Five,” Thumbs up,” and “no touch.” These are the words the students could circle.

In two sections, the student writes the names of family members. The examples provided in those sections are: “Mom (Parent)” and “Chris (Sibling).” In another section, the student writes the name of an adult. The example provided is “Ms. Smith (Teacher).” In the last section, the student writes the name of a friend. The example provided is “Jaime.”
