Dear County and District Superintendents and Charter School Administrators:
California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System Update and Support
The purpose of this letter is to provide an update on the recent technical changes made to increase performance of the California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS) and the impact of those changes on local educational agencies (LEAs) being able to certify their End-of-Year (EOY) submissions by the August 26, 2022 deadline. This update follows earlier letters sent on April 22, 2022, and May 20, 2022, which are available on the California Department of Education's (CDE's) CALPADS Communications web page at https://www.cde.ca.gov/ds/sp/cl/communications.asp.
Recently, data errors that local educational agencies (LEAs) must fix in order to certify their EOY submissions became viewable in CALPADS. Unfortunately, some problems with how these errors were identified resulted in LEAs seeing a large number of errors. The CDE, in conjunction with the California School Information Services (CSIS), are working expeditiously to display only the errors that LEAs will be required to fix in order to certify their submissions.
The CDE understands that LEAs learning that there are additional errors that they will have to fix in order to certify, places a great deal of stress on staff and may impact their workload in unexpected ways. Accordingly, the CDE continues to assess LEA progress with EOY submissions.
Should you have any questions about this letter, please contact the CALPADS/CBEDS/CDS Operations Office by phone at 916-324-6738 or by email at calpads@cde.ca.gov.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Jerry Winkler, Director
