S-EBT Notification for CALPADS Administrators


This communication is to bring to your attention the California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS) Flash #269 sent on March 19, 2024. This Flash provides information for CALPADS administrators about the process of collecting data for the upcoming 2024 Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) Program (also known as SUNBucks). While the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has not yet approved California’s Plan to operate Summer EBT or SUNBucks, there are critical tasks for CALPADS administrators to complete to ensure that students receive their SUNBucks cards. Cards will be issued to eligible students beginning in June 2024.

Food service administrators are encouraged to work with their CALPADS administrators to complete student information data updates needed prior to the collection processing deadlines. All CALPADS Flash communications are posted to the CALPADS Communications web page.

For household questions, the California Department of Social Services is establishing a customer service hotline and a dedicated SUNBucks web page which will be shared once available.

For Local Education Agency questions ONLY, please reach out to SummerEBT@cde.ca.gov. Please note, this email address is not for household inquiries about SUNBucks. California Department of Education staff do not have individual eligibility information and are not able to provide customer service directly to households.
