Subject: Commodity Entitlements for Year Round Sponsors, APB-SFS-98-22

This Management Bulletin provides recent clarification received from USDA, APB-SFS-98-22, regarding commodity entitlements for year round sponsors. The regulatory provision contained in Section 225.9(b), Commodity Assistance, of the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) applies to all sponsors regardless of when they operate. Sponsors that are eligible to receive commodities under the SFSP include those which prepare their own meals, those which contract with a school food authority for the preparation of meals, and school food authorities which procure SFSP meals from the same food service management company from which they procured meals for the National School Lunch Program during the last school session.

Each eligible sponsor is allowed one offering per year. Receipt and delivery of commodity allocations are available May through September for eligible SFSP sponsors. Eligible year round sponsors may request other arrangements by contacting Amy Bell, Commodity Consultant, at 916-322-5051.
