School Nutrition Program Administration Training

We are pleased to offer the Introduction to School Nutrition Program Administration (ISNPA) Training, an overview course for local school nutrition directors and managers. This three-day in-person training is intended to orient newly hired school nutrition directors and managers to the School Nutrition Programs (SNPs) and to provide resources for program implementation. Due to high demand for this training, we are offering two sessions in Sacramento and one session in Southern California.

Course Description

This training course provides basic information about the administration of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs. Along with learning about federal and state regulations, attendees will also receive an overview of SNP management components and resources. Additionally, participants will have an opportunity to network with fellow school nutrition leaders in a learning environment to share tips, discuss challenges, and identify successful strategies for operating the SNPs.

Topics will include:

  • Federal and state regulations
  • Procurement requirements
  • Resource management
  • Meal eligibility
  • Verification
  • Menu planning
  • Competitive foods
  • Administrative review process

Target Audience

The target audience for this course is new school food service directors and managers. Due to the popularity of this course, participation is limited to one attendee per School Food Authority. Priority registration will be granted to directors and managers with less than two years’ experience in their current position. Those with more experience may be added to the wait list and then, in early July, the California Department of Education (CDE) will notify waitlisted attendees if space is available. Attendees must attend all three days of the session.

Cost

This training is free to attend.
