Design Parent Drop-off/Parking Conflict Example 11

This is an Accessible Alternative Version of the conceptual design Parent Drop-off/Parking Conflict Example 11 (PDF). The Adobe Acrobat Portable Document should be the preferred version for downloading.

A conceptual design for school site layout displaying solutions for parent drop-off and pedestrian crosswalk conflicts. Provide parking close to kindergarten, as many kindergarten parents walk their children to the classroom. Include a barrier between parking and drop-off areas to prevent drivers from backing into drop-off lanes. Ensure that pedestrians can walk onto the school site without having to cross driveways. Use planting, fences, and other visual draws to encourage pedestrians to use designated sidewalks. This site provides for 116 parking stalls.

The California Department of Education, School Facilities and Transportation Services Division. These are conceptual displays only and are intended to illustrate a specific Title 5 criterion. The California Department of Education will evaluate designs based on the unique site conditions and the educational program of a school.
