Program Description
- Title IV, Part A, Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities was a federal categorical program that provided funding to local educational agencies to prevent violence in and around schools; to prevent the illegal use of alcohol, tobacco and drugs; and to foster a safe and drug-free learning environment. Funds could be used to develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive drug/alcohol, tobacco, and violence prevention programs and activities that were consistent with the principles of effectiveness and were coordinated with school and community-based program services.
