Action: Commissioner Taylor moved approval of minutes.
Commissioner King seconded the motion.

No votes: None
Members absent: None
Abstentions: Commissioners Brasil, Finnell, and Olmos
The motion passed by a vote of five to zero with three abstentions.

Subject: Consideration of Requests for Determination of Funding as Required for Nonclassroom-Based Charter Schools Pursuant to California Education Code sections 47612.5 and 47634.2, and Associated California Code of Regulations, Title 5.
CDE Recommendation: The CDE proposes to recommend that the California State Board of Education (SBE) approve the schools' determination of funding requests at 100 percent for the following time periods:
- Sierra Charter (charter number 0898) for four fiscal years (2023–24 through 2026–27)
- Virtual Preparatory Academy at Lucerne (charter number 1975) for four fiscal years (2023–24 through 2026–27)
- Northern Summit Academy Shasta (charter number 2076) for three fiscal years (2023–24 through 2025–26)
Action:
First Motion:
Commissioner Taylor moved for recommendation to the SBE of the CDE staff recommendation for Sierra Charter and Northern Summit Academy Shasta, and for Virtual Preparatory Academy at Lucerne a recommendation of 100 percent funding for three years (2023–24 through 2025–26).
Commissioner Brasil seconded the motion.
Second Motion:
Following additional discussion, Commissioner Taylor amended his first motion and moved for recommendation to the SBE of the CDE staff recommendation for Sierra Charter and Northern Summit Academy Shasta, and for Virtual Preparatory Academy at Lucerne a recommendation of 100 percent funding for two years (2023–24 through 2024–25).
Commissioner Brasil seconded the motion.

No votes: None
Members absent: None
Abstentions: None
The motion passed unanimously.
