Title III Immigrant Education Subgrant Program

Funding Description

LEAs that do not apply by the deadline will need to wait until the 2013-14 funding cycle to apply for Title III funding. Funding is made available to eligible local educational agencies (LEAs) to provide supplementary programs and services to eligible immigrant students. The purpose of the subgrants is to assist immigrant students to acquire English and achieve grade-level and graduation standards. Note: Recipients and funding amounts are subject to budget and administrative adjustments.

Eligibility

Eligible Applicants Local educational agencies
Required Eligibility Criteria LEAs that experienced a two percent or greater growth in the enrollment of eligible immigrant students in 2011 as compared to the average of the eligible immigrant enrollments of 2009 and 2010 are eligible to apply.
Other Eligibility Considerations LEAs scheduled to receive a formula subgrant of $5,000 or more may apply for Title III Imigrant student funds directly via the Consolidated Application and Reporting System (CARS). LEAs scheduled to receive a formula subgrant of less than $5,000 must apply as a member of a consortium.

Other LEAs eligible for direct funding are asked to accept or decline funds via Part I of the Consolidated Application and Reporting System (CARS) by July 31, 2012. LEAs that are required to apply as a member of a consortium must submit an application through the consortia online application. Consortium applications are due on or before August 17, 2012. LEAs that fail to respond by the deadline cannot be guaranteed funding for 2012-13.
