Emergency Assistance to Non-Public Schools (EANS) Program

Funding Description

As part of the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021, (CRRSA Act) Congress set aside $2.75 billion of the Governor's Emergency Education Relief Fund specifically to provide assistance to students in non-public private schools and eligible non-public schools.

Eligibility

Eligible Applicants Nonprofit organizations
Required Eligibility Criteria For purposes of the EANS program, an eligible non-public school (NPS) is a elementary or secondary school that is: non-profit, was in existence prior to March 13, 2020, and did not apply and/or receive a loan under the Small Business Administration's Paycheck Protection Program on or after December 27, 2020.
Other Eligibility Considerations Eligible NPS were invited to submit a request for application via an electronic survey in order to be considered to receive services or assistance through the EANS program.

Funding

Legal Authority Congress authorized the EANS program as part of the CRRSA Act's Governor's Emergency Education Relief Fund (GEER II Fund). The U.S. Department of Education awarded a portion of the GEER Fund under the CRRSA Act as a supplement to the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act's GEER Fund.
