Funding Description
Funding is provided to ensure preschool pupils receive appropriate interventions and services as needed before the pupil falls behind academically. Early intervention services and supports provided to children who are at risk of falling significantly behind, including children with disabilities, can reduce the need for additional services in future years.

Allocation Formula |
The per pupil amount is calculated by dividing the amount appropriated in the annual Budget Act for purposes of this section by the total number of preschool children with exceptional needs (statewide total number of pupils in grade 1 with exceptional needs using Fall 1 Census special education data). Then calculate the apportionment for each school district by multiplying the per pupil amount by the total number of preschool children with exceptional needs calculated for the school district (total number of pupils in grade 1 with exceptional needs residing in the school district using Fall 1 Census special education data).
