Ethnic Studies Professional Development

Funding Description

The contractor will provide: 1) Professional development and regional training for teachers, administrators, and paraprofessionals to support the creation or expansion of ethnic studies course offerings, including, but not limited to, courses that use the ethnic studies model curriculum adopted by the State Board of Education in March, 2021; 2) An online repository of resources to support ethnic studies courses.

Eligible Applicants Local educational agencies
Required Eligibility Criteria The lead applicant must be a county office of education (COE), or consortium of COEs, with demonstrated abilities and expertise developing, implementing, and supporting local educational agencies (LEAs) in offering new and expanded ethnic studies courses for grades nine through twelve.
Other Eligibility Considerations The California Department of Education (CDE) shall give positive consideration to applicants that propose partnerships with an institution of higher education. If a consortium of COEs submits an application, one COE must be identified as the lead applicant.
