Funding Description

Pursuant to the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015, Title I, Part C, the purpose of the Migrant Education Program is to ensure that all migratory students can meet the same challenging state academic standards that all children are expected to meet. Funding supports high quality comprehensive educational programs to help overcome educational disruption, cultural and language barriers, social isolation, varying health related needs and other factors that inhibit the ability of migratory children to succeed in schools.

Allocation Formula The allocation formula for the 20 migrant subgrantees is based on six funding factors: number of students served, number of unique students served in the summer, number of students ages 18-21, number of students who have moved in the last year, number of students who are priority for service, number of students with academic need, and the availability of other federal or state funds. A minimum of 85% of the federal award is awarded to the subgrantees while a maximum of 15% is used for administrative functions at the state level.
