Funding Description

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Part B, Section 619, Federal Preschool Grant funds are specifically allocated for special education and services to children with disabilities for preschool children ages three, four, and five.

Eligibility

Eligible Applicants Local educational agencies
Required Eligibility Criteria To receive funding, a local educational agency (LEA) must submit a local plan (application) to the California Department of Education that includes assurances in alignment with federal and state laws and regulations.
Other Eligibility Considerations LEAs are required to categorize these funds as expenditures for students with an individualized education plan (IEP) and for the delivery of the special education and related services necessary for students with disabilities to benefit from public education.
