Apportionment to the Silicon Valley Education Foundation
Fiscal Year 2022‑23
This apportionment, in the amount of $2,200,000, is made from the General Fund to the Silicon Valley Education (SVE) Foundation pursuant to Control Section 19.56(k)(2) added to the Budget Act of 2022 in Section 233 of Assembly Bill (AB) 178 (Chapter 45, Statutes of 2022), and amended by Section 207 of AB 179 (Chapter 249, Statutes of 2022). The apportionment represents 100 percent of the funds available to the SVE Foundation in fiscal year 2022-23.
The purpose of this funding is to support the SVE Foundation for Youth programming. Legislative intent is to allow the SVE Foundation to launch the Eastside Education Initiative to promote a culture of college and career readiness. Furthermore, pursuant to Control Section 19.56(a), funds shall be available for encumbrance through June 30, 2024, and expenditure until June 30, 2026. Funds may be used to pay for costs incurred prior to the enactment of AB 179.
