Assessment Apportionments for the CAASPP and ELPAC

Funding results for fiscal year 2021–22 California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) and English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC).

Funding is provided to reimburse local educational agencies (LEAs) and charter schools for the costs associated with administering the CAASPP and ELPAC to pay approved apportionment costs from the current and prior testing years. The amount apportioned per student per test is established by the California State Board of Education.

California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress

The CAASPP apportionment funds are unrestricted funds to reimburse LEAs and charter schools for the costs associated with the CAASPP System that are above and beyond the California Department of Education (CDE) statewide contract with test contractors. The tests included in the CAASPP System are the Smarter Balanced Summative Assessment for English language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics, the California Science Test, the California Alternate Assessments for ELA, mathematics, and science, the California Spanish Assessment, and the CDE-certified grade two diagnostic tests.

English Language Proficiency Assessments for California

Funding is provided to reimburse LEAs and charter schools for the costs associated with administering the initial and summative ELPAC. The ELPAC is the required state test for English language proficiency that must be given to students whose primary language is a language other than English.
