Early Education Teacher Development Grant

Early Education Teacher Development Grant is funded in combination with the California Prekindergarten Planning and Implementation Grant. The entirety of the California Prekindergarten Planning and Implementation Grant Program was established as a state initiative with the goal of expanding access to classroom-based prekindergarten programs at local educational agencies (LEAs) and planning for the increased number of teachers needed to fully implement Universal PreKindergarten.

The Early Education Teacher Development Grant Request for Application (RFA) is intended for local educational agencies, including school districts, charter schools, and county offices of education. Eligible applicants may apply and submit the RFA by 5:00PM on Friday, May 27, 2022.

Attachment (XLSX)

Letter of Intent (LOI) is required if the local educational agency intends to submit an application and was due February 2, 2022. We are no longer accepting LOIs at this time.

Request for Appeal
Information

The CDE must receive any request for appeal no later than August 1, 2022, by 5:00 p.m.
Appellants must submit appeal letters to the CDE electronically via email to UPKWorkforceRFA@cde.ca.gov.

Appeals are limited to addressing how the CDE failed to correctly apply the standards for reviewing the application as specified in the RFA. Additional information will not be accepted. Missing or incomplete documentation of the required elements cannot be the basis for an appeal. Late appeals will not be considered.

Within 10 business days of the receipt of the appeal letter, the CDE will notify appellants of the results of their appeal. The CDE will notify appellants of their appeal. The CDE's decision is the final administrative action afforded by the appeal.

Required as a condition prior to receiving funds. Applicants will need to download, read, and file the General Assurances and Certifications document in their school files. This document is to be kept on file for compliance reviews, complaint investigations, or audits.
