Church Brothers Farms Recall Green Onions


On October 18, 2024, Church Brothers, LLC recalled 1,271 cases of green onions because of the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

The California Department of Education Nutrition Services Division strongly recommends that food program operators take precautions to ensure these products are not served or consumed and instead are disposed of per the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Please note that per the FDA these products are not U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Foods items.

The following information is directly from the FDA:

Salinas, CA, October 18, 2024 (For Distribution) - Church Brothers, LLC (“Church Brothers Farms”) is voluntarily recalling 1271 cases of green onions because of the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
