Dear select County Superintendents, District Superintendents, Charter School Administrators, and High School Principals:

Steps to College 2020 Event and Scholarship Opportunity

On behalf of the California Department of Education and the Consulate General of Mexico in Sacramento, we are pleased to invite you, your students, and their families to the Ninth Annual Steps to College 2020 education fair.

This outstanding event is the largest bilingual and binational university fair in Northern California. Representatives from colleges and universities from the United States and Mexico will come together to present student opportunities for admission, host bilingual workshops that provide hands-on training on the college admissions process, and show how to easily access financial aid and scholarships.

We strongly encourage principals, counselors, school districts, and school boards to help in the important effort of sharing the above information, and ideally also in coordinating buses for students and their families who would be interested in attending this free event.

Date: February 1, 2020
Time: 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Location: Consulate General of Mexico, 2093 Arena Boulevard, Sacramento, CA 95834
Cost: Free
Registration: https://stepstocollegesac.org

There will be an abundance of valuable information and services provided at the Steps to College 2020 education fair. Additionally, Cien Amigos, the Mexican Cultural Center of Northern California, and the Consulate General of Mexico in Sacramento have partnered together to offer the Cien Amigos—Institute for Mexicans Abroad Scholarship. This scholarship has been offered for nine years in a row and uses the extra proceeds of the fair to help to promote access to higher education for marginalized Latino students.

If you have any questions about or would like to actively participate in helping with either of the above mentioned subjects, please contact the Consul for Political Affairs, Yúriko Garcés, at the Consulate General of Mexico in Sacramento, by phone at 916-329-3516 or by email at ygarces@sre.gob.mx.

Sincerely,

Tony Thurmond
