Dear County and District Superintendents and Charter School Administrators:

Announcing the Presenting Sponsor for 2019–2021 California School Recognition Program

The California Department of Education’s (CDE) California School Recognition Program shines a spotlight on the successes of California’s best teachers, principals, classified staff, and schools. Every year, we honor their efforts to provide every child with a world-class education that prepares them for college and career.

It is my pleasure to announce California Casualty as the 2019–2021 Presenting Sponsor for our California School Recognition Program. Thanks to their generous support, the CDE is able to honor the 2020 California Distinguished Schools, California Teachers of the Year, Classified Employees of the Year, and National Blue Ribbon Schools at recognition ceremonies.

These awards highlight excellence across the state, provide a forum for sharing best practices, and recognize educators and schools who contribute to the highest quality education for California’s students.

California Casualty is a 100-year-old, family-owned insurance business based in San Mateo that has a long history of serving California communities and teachers. The partnership between the CDE and California Casualty is a testament to how schools, businesses, and communities can come together to promote remarkable successes of schools and educators across the Golden State. In addition, California Casualty field representatives will attend special recognition ceremonies to present their own awards to honored schools, continuing the company’s commitment to California educators.

We are grateful for our long-standing relationship and continued partnership to celebrate schools.

Sincerely,

Tony Thurmond
State Superintendent of Public Instruction
