Dear County and District Superintendents, Charter School Administrators, and Private School Administrators:

2022 Statewide Wildfire Preparedness Webinar for Educational Entities

The California Department of Education (CDE) is pleased to announce the 2022 Statewide Wildfire Preparedness Webinar for Educational Entities to be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, from 10 a.m. until noon. The purpose of this webinar is for the state to share resources and information on wildfire preparedness with educational entities throughout California.

With record-setting wildfires occurring year after year, California schools are impacted by smoke, evacuations, power outages, and sometimes by fire directly. To provide important context and resources on emergency preparedness for schools, CDE has partnered with the Governor’s Office, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, the California Natural Resource Agency, the National Weather Service, and the Butte County Office of Education for this important event.

To register for the 2022 Statewide Wildfire Preparedness Webinar, visit the Zoom registration web page at https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_CFXs6iUkRyWjOYGFbYtPsw [Note: The registration for this webinar is closed].

A recording of the webinar will be available at a later date on the CDE School Disaster and Emergency Management web page at https://www.cde.ca.gov/ls/ep/.

For additional resources on wildfires for local educational agencies, please refer to the CDE Disaster and Emergency Resources web page at https://www.cde.ca.gov/ls/ep/schoolemergencyres.asp. If you have any questions regarding this webinar, please contact the Emergency Services Team at EmergencyServices@cde.ca.gov.

Sincerely,

Tony Thurmond
State Superintendent of Public Instruction
