Dear County and District Superintendents, Charter School Administrators, and School Principals:

Breaking Barriers: Panel Discussion with Latino Leaders in Celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month

National Hispanic Heritage Month is September 15–October 15, a time to recognize and celebrate the cultures, traditions, and history of the Latino and Hispanic Community in the United States. Please join the California Department of Education (CDE) and me for the online “Breaking Barriers: Panel Discussion with Latino Leaders” event on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 10 a.m. We would like to encourage you to invite your students to participate by joining the webinar.

The online discussion is a celebration that will honor the numerous contributions of the Latino and Hispanic community. Panelists include:

  • Dolores Huerta, Civil Rights Leader and Co-Founder, United Farm Workers
  • Patricia Guerrero, Chief Justice of California
  • José M. Hernandez, NASA astronaut
  • Todd Gloria, Mayor, City of San Diego
