Dear County and District Superintendents, Charter School Administrators, and School Principals:

Ready, Set, Go: Putting Proposition 28 Funds into Practice Webinar

Please join the California Department of Education (CDE) and me as we convene a webinar, “Ready, Set, Go: Putting Proposition 28 Funds into Practice,” on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 4 p.m.

This webinar will bring together educators who are ready to expand arts education for California students. Proposition 28, the largest investment in arts and music education in the country, was overwhelmingly passed by voters in 2022 and provides nearly $1 billion annually in funding for arts and music throughout California schools so students in all grades can participate in arts and music programs. The arts are a necessary part of a well-rounded education, help kids connect with school, and have a positive impact on student attendance and school climate. With these funds, we are providing every student with a creative outlet.

Webinar participants will discuss important information on how and when Proposition 28 funds will be available and how they can be used, learn from teachers and leaders in the field about arts education programs they are building, and connect with subject matter experts on how to best leverage funding to expand arts programs.

Please register at https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_nxymhvRDRe21n-JpFh77HQ#/registration. You can also view a livestream of the event on the CDE Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/CAEducation.

If you have any questions or want to share best practices, please email the CDE Communications Division at communications@cde.ca.gov.

Sincerely,

Tony Thurmond
State Superintendent of Public Instruction
