Item 2–California Collaborative for Educational Excellence (CCEE) Update: Introduction of new CCEE Director of Special Education, Karla Estrada, who will discuss her new role within the California Collaborative and how the Collaborative will assist local educational agencies (LEAs) who are eligible for differentiated assistance. Item 3–Update on the Development of California’s Accountability System: Jenny Singh, Administrator of the Academic Accountability Unit, California Department of Education (CDE), Analysis, Measurement, and Accountability Reporting Division (AMARD), will discuss recent developments in California’s new integrated local, state, and federal accountability and continuous improvement system. Item 6–Preliminary Education Specialist Credential Update: William Hatrick, Consultant in Teacher Preparation, California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC), will provide an update on the status of the Preliminary Education Specialist Credential from recent CCTC meeting. Item 7–ACSE Committee Meetings: Commissioners will establish standing committee membership and determine structure for each committee. Commissioners will then breakout for initial committee meetings. (Item type: Information, discussion, action)

Item 8–Voices from the Field: The ACSE would like to receive input from stakeholder groups about trends, challenges, and successes. Participants include Special Education Local Plan Area Administrators of California, Parent Training and Information Centers, Family Empowerment Centers, California Teachers Association, California Charter Schools Association, California Association of Resource Specialists Plus, Special Education Administrators of County Offices, California Parent Teacher Association, California School Employees Association, and any other groups who would like to provide input. 2018 GOAL Award Recipient Luncheon: Commissioners and representatives from La Sierra High School’s Adult Transition Program will attend a hosted luncheon.

Item 16–Improving Outcomes for Students with Disabilities and Building Statewide Capacity through Targeted Resources and Technical Assistance: Tamara Clay, El Dorado County Office of Education (EDCOE) SELPA Director; and Kevin Schaefer, Director of Program Support, EDCOE SELPA, will provide information on the current resources and technical assistance being provided to LEAs in California to improve outcomes for students with disabilities. Item 17–General Public Comment: General public comment is invited on any matter, including items not on the agenda. The ACSE is precluded from discussing matters not on the agenda; however, questions may be asked by Commissioners for clarification purposes.
