In-Person Instruction & Expanded Learning Grants

State and federal funding sources provided to LEAs and state special schools to assist with offering in-person instruction, and to expand in-person instruction time, provide academic interventions and accelerate progress to close learning gaps.

The In-Person Instruction (IPI) and Expanded Learning Opportunities Grants (ELO-G) were established in California Education Code Section 43521, added by Assembly Bill (AB) 86 (Ch.10, 2021), with initial funding appropriated from the State General Fund. The programs were combined for initial allocation and apportionment purposes. Amendments in Section 34 of AB 130 (Ch. 44, 2021) and Section 12 of AB 167 (Ch.252, 2021) replaced $2.016 billion of the state funding for ELO-G with four sources of federal stimulus funds which require local educational agency (LEA) assurances and quarterly expenditure reporting. Due to these changes, the federal allocations and apportionments will be displayed on a separate funding results page.
