California Proficiency Program

In order to participate in the California Proficiency Program (CPP) and take the HiSET-Proficiency test, students are required to upload their transcripts to meet eligibility requirements. There are delays in verifying students' eligibility with the testing company PSI Services (PSI) LLC. The process, which is estimated to take no more than 10 days, is now taking more than 15 days due to excessive student errors in uploading incorrect documents that are not transcripts and creating multiple accounts.

PSI staff are working hard to process the over 800 applications submitted in the order they were received. Students who received notifications that the documents they uploaded are not transcripts should not create another account and upload their transcripts. Doing so only moves them out of their place in line. Instead, students should follow the directions provided in the email to move through the eligibility verification process as quickly as possible.

Students who were able to have their eligibility verified have been able to register to take the HiSET-Proficiency. At-home testing with remote proctoring began this week as verifying of eligibility continues.

Additional information about the CPP or the HiSET-Proficiency can be found on the California Department of Education (CDE) website at California Proficiency Program or at HiSET-Proficiency External link opens in new window or tab..
