Assistance to Storm-affected Local Educational Agencies
For local educational agencies (LEAs) affected by the recent storms, please email caaspp@cde.ca.gov or elpac@cde.ca.gov to let the California Department of Education (CDE) know of any upcoming test administration challenges. Our goal is to assist and support your LEA as early as possible in the test administration window to ensure that all eligible students can be assessed.
Now Available—Asynchronous Hand Scoring Modules for Scoring Smarter Balanced Performance Tasks
A new set of asynchronous training modules is now available to guide educators on how to hand score the Smarter Balanced Interim Assessment performance tasks for English language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics. Understanding how to hand score performance tasks is an important part of preparing to use the interim assessments, as hand scoring them is a local responsibility.
Each module includes step-by-step directions, embedded instructional videos, and reflection questions. Educators can customize their experience by using hand scoring training materials for any grade level for which the interim assessments are available. The modules can be completed at any time, at the educator’s own pace, and individually or as part of a professional learning community. The new asynchronous learning modules are available on the CAASPP website from the following web pages:
- Asynchronous Learning Module: Hand Scoring ELA Performance Tasks
- Asynchronous Learning Module: Hand Scoring Mathematics Performance Tasks
There is no secure content on these web pages, but access to secure materials, including training guides and exemplars, is necessary to engage with the modules. Instructions are provided which guide teachers and other local educational agency staff in accessing the necessary secure materials through the Test Operations Management System.
Check out these new training modules today!
