Initial Assessment of English Language Proficiency Continues
The Initial ELPAC and Initial Alternate ELPAC 2023–24 Assessment window continues to be open and will close on June 28, 2024. All Initial ELPAC or Initial Alternate ELPAC tests must be completed within 30 days of enrollment for eligible students. Overall, local educational agencies (LEAs) have assessed over 97 percent of all eligible students for the Initial ELPAC and 93 percent for the Initial Alternate ELPAC. There are still over 5,000 students across all LEAs pending the administration of the Initial ELPAC and Initial Alternate ELPAC. Students identified as English Learners as a result of these assessments will also need to take the Summative ELPAC or the Summative Alternate ELPAC during the summative window which closes on May 31, 2024.
Please continue to work with your schools to ensure that eligible students are tested as soon as possible. ETS, the testing contractor, will be sending lists of eligible students who still need testing to LEA coordinators the week of March 4, 2024.
