Planning Grant Fiscal Timeline
The timeline regarding the grant period and grant award notices have been updated from the Golden State Pathways Program (GSPP) request for applications.
GSPP grant funds must only be spent to develop, expand, or improve high-quality college and career pathway opportunities. GSPP funds must be used in accordance with California Education Code (EC) sections 53020–53025. GSPP funds shall not supplant other funds expended for educational services and activities.

Planning Grant Period |
December 23-24, 2024 |
Grant Award Notifications (GAN) are emailed to the local educational agency's (LEA) superintendent. By e-signing the GAN, your LEA is voluntarily agreeing to conduct business with the California Department of Education (CDE) electronically. Digitally sign the document and email it back to the CDE within 10 days of receipt of the GAN. |
January 2025- February 2025 |
2023-24 Payment: First payment of 85 percent of the grant amount. |
February 21, 2025 |
Submit Budget Update Form and Capital Outlay Form (if applicable): Complete, digitally sign, and email back to the CDE the budget update form and capital outlay form (if applicable) no later than February 21, 2025. These forms may be updated and resubmitted as necessary during the grant period. The budget update form is completed per application. |
March 2025-29 |
(Optional offering) Educating for Careers - Annual Conference: Held annually each March at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center in Sacramento. |
August 2025-29 |
Annual Project Expenditure Report: Complete, digitally sign, and email the annual project expenditure report to the CDE. |
November 2025 |
2025-26 Payment: Final payment of 15 percent of the grant amount. |
May 2026 |
Grant recipients shall annually collect and submit data, disaggregated by pupil subgroup, on the outcome measures identified in the California EC Section 53024 (c). |

Planning Grant Ends: All funds must be expended by June 30, 2026. |

End of Planning Grant Submissions: A planning grantee must submit a Supplemental Report (appendix E), including an Implementation budget and narrative (appendix F2), updated contact sheet, and capital outlay form (if applicable). The budget and narrative are completed per school site, per pathway. |

2027-28 Payment: Final payment of 15 percent of the grant amount. |

Grant recipients shall annually collect and submit data, disaggregated by pupil subgroup, on the outcome measures identified in the California EC Section 53024 (c). The report is due to the grant recipient's RTAC in mid-May. The first report is due in May 2027. |

Implementation Grant Ends: All funds must be expended by June 30, 2029. |
