2024 MPLP Grant

Senate Bill 153, Chapter 38, Statutes of 2024, Section 114 of the Education Omnibus Budget Trailer Bill for the 2024–25 California State Budget appropriated the sum of $20 million to the California Department of Education (CDE) to allocate to one or more county offices of education (COEs) or a consortium of COEs to partner with the California Mathematics Project (CMP) to support high-quality mathematics instruction to kindergarten through grade twelve (K–12) pupils throughout the state, pursuant to the 2023 Mathematics Framework. The 2024 Mathematics Professional Learning Partnership (MPLP) Grant Program will issue $20 million to one COE through a competitive grant process to do all the following, in partnership with the CMP:

• Develop and deliver educator training, including the training of mathematics coaches, designed to support educators throughout the state in providing high-quality K–12 mathematics instruction, aligned to the 2023 Mathematics Framework.
• Provide resources to educators on delivering high-quality mathematics instruction to K–12 pupils throughout the state, pursuant to the 2023 Mathematics Framework. 
• Coordinate resources and training development with the grantees of other mathematics educator professional development initiatives, including but not limited to both of the following:
  • Grantees of the Mathematics, Science, and Computer Science Professional Learning (MSCS PL) Grant authorized pursuant to Section 53 of Chapter 571 of the Statutes of 2022, and
  • Grantees of the Learning Acceleration System (LAS) Grant authorized pursuant to Section 43 of Chapter 252 of the Statutes of 2021.

2024 MPLP Grant Request for Applications – Coming Soon

The CDE, with the approval of the Executive Director of the State Board of Education, will invite COEs with expertise in developing and delivering professional learning to strengthen mathematics instruction to apply. More information will be provided when the Request for Applications has been released.
