Los Angeles County Office of Education Resources:

• Fair, Accurate, Inclusive, and Respectful (FAIR) Education Act was signed into law by California Governor Jerry Brown, July 14, 2011. According to cosponsors Equality California and the Genders and Sexualities Alliance Network, the purpose of the FAIR Act was to end the exclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) history in education and to promote school safety.
• Comprehensive Sexual Health Education : In January 2016, California adopted the new law that requires comprehensive sexual health education and HIV prevention education to be taught in public schools. California Education Code sections 51930–51939. Comprehensive sexual health education must be taught once in middle school and once in high school. All instruction in all grades must be age-appropriate and medically accurate. Comprehensive sexual health education must address the needs of students of all genders and sexual orientations.

AIDS Project Los Angeles
The mission of AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA) Health is to achieve health care equity and promote well-being for the LGBT and other underserved communities and people living with and affected by HIV.

APAIT
Access to Prevention Advocacy Intervention and Treatment (APAIT) was established in 1987 as a grassroots AIDS service organization (ASO) for Asian and Pacific Islanders (APIs) who were dying alone from AIDS-related stigma and shame.

Black AIDS Institute
Black AIDS Institute (BAI) is dedicated to ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the Black community. With a foundation in advocacy and policy work, BAI works towards improving the health and wellness of Black people through research, community efforts, and clinical work.

Los Angeles LGBT Center
Since 1969, the Los Angeles LGBT Center has cared for, championed, and celebrated LGBT individuals and families in Los Angeles and beyond. The Center’s in-school programs focus on helping LGBTQ youth create supportive communities and relationships, feel safe at school, and develop leadership and other skills they need to build healthy and complete lives.
