Funding Description

The Tobacco-Use Prevention Education County Technical Assistance Funds provide funding to county offices of education to provide leadership, administrative oversight, training, and technical assistance (TA) to all local educational agencies (LEAs) in the county. TA focuses on: tobacco-free school policies, support to LEAs on tobacco-use prevention education and instruction, staff professional development, family and community engagement, interagency partnerships, cessation support and referrals, and program assessment. A portion of TA funds are to be directed to identifying and reducing disparities among disparate youth populations.

Eligible Applicants Local educational agencies
Required Eligibility Criteria Only county offices of education are eligible to apply for this funding. In order to be eligible to apply, the applicant agency must have been certified by the California Department of Education as meeting Tobacco-Free Policy Certification requirements as provided under California Health and Safety Code Section 104420 (n)(2).
