Funding Description
The Universal Prekindergarten (UPK) program provides a minimum base grant for each county office of education of fifteen thousand ($15,000) dollars for each local educational agency (LEA) in their county that operates kindergarten programs to support countywide planning & capacity building. Grant funds may pay for costs associated with creating/expanding California State Preschool Programs, Transitional Kindergarten programs or to establish or strengthen partnerships with other providers of pre-K education within the LEA, including Head Start programs.
