Ethnic Studies Professional Development

The contractor will provide: 1) Professional development and regional training for teachers, administrators, and paraprofessionals to support the creation or expansion of ethnic studies course offerings, including, but not limited to, courses that use the ethnic studies model curriculum adopted by the State Board of Education in March, 2021; 2) An online repository of resources to support ethnic studies courses.

General Assurances & Certifications
(Posted June 2021)

Required as a condition of receiving funds. Applicants do not need to sign and return them with the application; they must be downloaded and kept on file for compliance reviews, complaint investigations, or audits. Applicants that participate in the Consolidated Application (ConApp) should have a copy on file and do not need another copy. Program-specific assurances are not included here and should be listed separately on the RFA.

Completed applications are due Monday, February 14, 2022, before 4 p.m.

County offices of education (COEs) that wish to appeal a grant award decision must complete the ESPD Contract Appeal Form by March 14, 2022, no later than 4 p.m. If applying as a consortium, only the lead COE may submit this form. Appeals submitted via means other than use of this form will not be accepted. Appeals shall be limited to the grounds that the California Department of Education (CDE) failed to correctly apply the standards for reviewing the application as specified in the RFA. The appellant must file a full and complete written appeal, including the issue(s) in dispute, the legal authority or other basis for the appeal position, and the remedy sought. The CDE will not consider incomplete or late appeals. The appellant may not supply any new information that was not originally contained in the original application. A final decision will be provided in writing within 10 business days from the date that appeals are due to the CDE for this specific RFA.
