The California Department of Education (CDE) is excited to share new and updated resources for 2025 SUN Bucks or the Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer (Summer EBT).
On April 16, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., the CDE will host a webinar entitled 2025 SUN Bucks – What Local Education Agencies (LEAs) Need to Know.
This webinar, presented by the Nutrition Services Division of the CDE, will focus on various aspects of the 2025 SUN Bucks program, including implementation, eligibility, applications, and data sharing. Registration information for the webinar is located at the end of this listserv communication.
On March 24, 2025, the CDE CALPADS Office released Update Flash #297. The Flash includes information about the new Universal Benefits Application (UBA), SUN Bucks eligibility criteria, and SUN Bucks eligibility records submissions to the CDE.

In addition to the upcoming webinar and Flash announcement, the CDE has also updated the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on the SUN Bucks webpage to reflect common questions related to the UBA and 2025 SUN Bucks implementation. The updated FAQs are located on the SUN Bucks web page under the FAQs tab.

You will also receive several emails with information about joining the webinar: First, you will receive confirmation the day you register and then you will receive two reminder emails one day and one hour prior to the webinar. If you cannot find the email confirmation, or do not receive the reminders, you can always reregister.
