CLASS Management Bulletin 23-10 Update Data

Updates to the data requirements in Management Bulletin 23-10.

Early Education Division Email

Date Sent: July 19, 2024

Expires: Until Superseded by a Management Bulletin

Attention: Executive Directors and Program Directors of all California State Preschool Programs (CSPP)

On May 10, 2024, the California Department of Education (CDE) sent out an email that extended the data collection deadline to 60 days after the California State Preschool Program (CSPP) Regional and Statewide Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) leads received their grant award notification (GAN) letter for the Achieving Success in Positive Interactions, Relationships, and Environments (ASPIRE) grant.

The CDE understands that the summer months may make it challenging to meet the 60-day submission date of July 30, 2024. With this in mind, the CDE is modifying the deadline to submit the required data to your Regional Lead to be no later than August 12, 2024.

As of July 15, 2024, all CSPP contractors received an email from their respective ASPIRE Regional Lead requesting the completion of a regional needs assessment. Please reach out to your ASPIRE Regional Lead if you did not receive the regional needs assessment. The email you would have received would have come from the following email addresses, depending on which region your contract operates within:

Region A- Shasta County Office of Education: rmcfadden@shastacoe.org
Region B- El Dorado County Office of Education: ASPIRERegionB@edcoe.org
Region C- Ventura County Office of Education: aspireregionC@vcoe.org
Region D- San Diego County Office of Education: ASPIRE-RegionD@sdcoe.net

Contractors unsure of the CLASS region their program is in may visit the CLASS Resources webpage to determine their Regional Lead, which can be accessed at: https://www.cde.ca.gov/sp/cd/ci/classrmassessmtresource.asp.

The information collected in the regional needs assessment is intended to create a system of support through the ASPIRE Statewide and Regional Leads, which will be able to identify any gaps or elevate coordination efforts for CSPP contractors regarding existing capacity for CLASS and CLASS Environment.

Note that Management Bulletin (MB) 23-10, released by the CDE in December 2023, included an original May 15, 2024, deadline for CSPP contractors to provide information to the CSPP Regional CLASS leads funded through the CSPP ASPIRE program. This due date has been pushed back per this email guidance to ensure that contractors have time to gather the data to inform ASPIRE Regional Leads.
