- Preparations for the February 19, 2016, Science SMC Meeting (Information)
Chair Foster reported that the Instructional Quality Commission received a lot of feedback on the draft Science Framework during the first 60-day public review period that occurred from November 17, 2015, through January 19, 2016. Based on the feedback, the Science SMC is charged with recommending edits and changes to the draft Science Framework to the full Commission on May 19–20, 2016.
The group reviewed the agenda for the upcoming February 19th Science SMC meeting and discussed the process the SMC will follow to facilitate the discussion of the framework chapters and line edits in order for the SMC to come to consensus on the edits and comments from the first 60-day field review. The group also discussed additional documents that will be distributed at the meeting. Matthew d’Alessio, Science Framework writer, shared his ideas and vision for the framework and ways he will address the edits.
At the February 19th meeting, the SMC will discuss as many chapters as possible and if the SMC is not able to come to consensus on all of the edits and comments, another meeting will be held on March 18, 2016.
- Public Comment on Today’s Agenda Items: None
SMC Chair Foster adjourned the meeting at approximately 4:50 p.m.
