Date: August 2, 2022
Subject: CALPADS Update FLASH #232
Approval Functionality Enabled for End-of-Year Submissions
Beginning August 3, 2022, the “approve” button on the certification screen will be enabled, thus allowing LEAs to approve/certify any of their End-of-Year (EOY) submissions for which there are no fatal errors and in which the snapshot reports reflect accurate counts. LEAs should review their revisions following the August 2, 2022 release, as it should reflect any changes that result from any corrected Certification Data Discrepancies (CDDs). LEAs will begin to see their revisions as they complete on August 4, 2022.
Status of EOY Submissions
Following the August 2, 2022 release, the status of the EOY submissions is as follows:
EOY 1: No defects impacting the certification of EOY 1.
EOY 2: Defects remain on the following three validations (note: fixes to these defects may be patched during this week).
- SPRG0070
- SPRG0249
- SPRG0254
EOY 3: Defects remain on the following two validations:
- CERT154
- SINF0453
EOY 4: Defects remain on the following three validations:
- SPED0432
- SSRV0445
- SSRV0448
All LEAs should be working on resolving all other errors. Since the Student Program (SPRG) file defects displayed in EOY 2 impact the count of students in other submissions, once the SPRG defects are resolved, the majority of LEAs should be able to approve/certify their submissions, as the other remaining defects impact a very small number of LEAs.
Deadline Update
As stated in previous communications, the CDE understands that LEAs have had significantly less access to a stable system which impacts their ability to submit quality data by the current August 26, 2022 certification deadline. LEAs will need sufficient time to address any remaining errors that remain after all defects have been resolved, and the Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) administrators will need time to review the EOY 4 submissions once they are approved by the LEAs in their area. The CDE also recognizes that staff are busy getting ready for the next school year, which now requires them to manually search for Statewide Student Identifiers (SSIDs) for new and transferring students. Accordingly, as stated in other communications, the CDE continues to assess LEA progress with EOY submissions and, if necessary, will consider adjusting the certification deadline and/or disabling validations, to ensure that LEAs are able to certify data by the deadline.
