California State Board of Education Appeal Process
California Education Code (EC) Section 47606(k)(2)(A) allows a petitioner to submit a petition that has been denied by the county board of education to the California State Board of Education (SBE) within 30 days. Independent Study
Charter schools are required to follow the requirements in EC sections 51744 through 51749.5 when providing independent study, except where the language of the statute excludes charter schools. EC sections 51745.6(d) and 51747.3(a) provide legal requirements specific to charter schools. Universal Prekindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten
EC Section 48000(c) states every four-year-old child whose fourth birthday occurs by September 1, will have access to a transitional kindergarten (TK) program by the 2025–26 school year. Continuing Charter Schools
EC sections 47605 and 47605.1 require the California Department of Education (CDE) to treat any charter school that was serving students and must change authorizers as a result of the requirements in Assembly Bill 1507 as “continuing for all purposes.” In order to help identify which charter schools are to be treated as continuing, the CDE has revised the Charter School Number Form (Form).
