  • Item 1–Call to Order: Welcome and Introductions; Mission and Vision; Approval of Minutes.
9:30 to 10:15 a.m.
  • Item 2–WorkAbility I State Advisory and Regional Bylaws Committee Report: The WAI State Advisory and Regional Bylaws Committee will share proposed updates to the draft bylaws, followed by a discussion by the WAI Advisory Committee. A vote on the draft bylaws will be conducted on Day 2, Thursday, May 2, 2024.
10:15 to 11 a.m.
  • Item 3–California Educators Together: Kyle Castleman, Education Programs Consultant from the California Department of Education, Career and College Transition Division, will present on the California Educators Together website and discuss with WAI Advisory possible opportunities for the WAI on the online platform.
11 a.m. to 11:05 a.m.
  • Item 4–Public Comment: General public comment is invited on any matter, including items not on the agenda. Issues raised by the public may be referred to a future meeting agenda. Chair reserves the right to establish time limits on presentations.

  • Item 5–Meeting Dates for 2024–25 WAI Advisory Committee: The WAI Advisory Committee will review and approve proposed meeting dates for the 2024–25 school year.

  • Item 6–California Department of Education Updates: CDE staff will discuss recent developments within the SED, as well as updates to key areas related to the WAI grant.

  • Item 7–WorkAbility I Statewide Elementary School Connection Grant: Participants in Year Two of the WAI Elementary School Connection Grant will present a summary of the successes, challenges, and resources developed during the pilot of the program.

  • Item 8 – WorkAbility I Grant Award Notification Committee Update: The WAI Grant Award Notification (GAN) Committee will share progress and next steps regarding the initiative to streamline the delivery of the WAI GAN.
2:25 to 3:00 p.m.

  • Item 6–Vote on WorkAbility I State Advisory and Regional Bylaws: WAI Advisory will vote on the draft bylaws.

  • Item 7–Student Voice: The WAI Student Voice workgroup will present a summary of their research and propose recommendations to the WAI Advisory Committee.

  • Item 8–WorkAbility I Statewide Conference Committee: The WAI Statewide Conference Committee will share updates regarding the proposed WAI Statewide Conference.
2 to 2:25 p.m.
  • Item 9–WorkAbility I Advisory Committee Recommendations to the California Department of Education: The WAI Advisory Committee continues to develop a list of recommendations to the CDE.
2:25 to 2:30 p.m.
