  • Item 1–Call to Order: Welcome and Introductions; Mission and Vision; Approval of Minutes.
10:30–10:50 a.m.
  • Item 2–Special Vote: WAI Advisory will vote on two positions: Advisory Secretary and Executive Committee Member.
10:50–11:35 a.m.
  • Item 3–CDE Update: CDE staff will discuss recent developments within the SED, as well as updates to key areas related to the WAI grant.
11:35–11:45 a.m.
  • Break
11:45 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
  • Item 4–Bagley Keene Review: Annual review of Bagley Keene mandates relating to how the WAI Advisory meetings are to be conducted.
12:30–1:00 p.m.
  • Item 5–Robert’s Rules of Order Review: Review of Robert's Rules of Order to ensure that all WAI Advisory members are aware of the guidelines to a smooth, orderly, and fairly conducted meeting.
1:00–1:10 p.m.
  • Item 6–Public Comment: General public comment is invited on any matter, including items not on the agenda. Issues raised by the public may be referred to a future meeting agenda. Chair reserves the right to establish time limits on presentations.
1:10–2:30 p.m.
  • Lunch Break

  • Item 7–Role of Committee Members: WAI Advisory will discuss Standing Committee roles, responsibilities/expectations, and resources. WAI Advisory will break into groups (Committee Chairs and Region Managers) to discuss old tasks, collaborations, new tasks, tips, and hints.
3:30–3:50 p.m.
  • Item 8–Hot topics and Updates for Day 2: WAI Advisory will discuss possible trainings that need to be developed (New Grantee, Work Permit, New Grantee Contact, Sexual Harassment Training), Legislation day supports, AB 130, Paper vs. Electronic Files, Student Advisory Position, etc.
3:50–4:00 p.m.

  • Item 3–Student Voice: WAI Advisory will discuss next steps to include a student position on the WAI Advisory Committee.

  • Item 4–Multi-Region or Statewide Meeting: WAI Advisory will discuss the prospects of conducting a WAI meeting on the off years from Bridges. WAI Advisory will also discuss the need for statewide Work Permit training.

  • Item 5–Competitive Integrated Employment Blueprint Wrap-up: Update on the California Competitive Integrated Employment Blueprint.
11:20–11:30 a.m.
