Job Description

The Education Research and Evaluation Assistants (EREAs), with direction from an Education Research and Evaluation Administrator or an Education Administrator, independently perform the less complex research and evaluation assignments using pre-kindergarten through higher education data. Incumbents analyze, plan, and evaluate programs to determine effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement. EREAs provide technical assistance to local educational agencies and the general public. EREAs interpret qualitative and quantitative data in an educational area; recommend policy alternatives for management decision making; assist external agencies or stakeholders engaged in educational program improvement efforts; monitor educational projects and/or improvement efforts and assist in the preparation of documents on policy issues for a variety of constituent groups or individuals.

Qualifications Assessment Questionnaire

The California civil service selection system is merit-based, and eligibility for appointment is established through a formal examination process. The Education Research and Evaluation Assistant examination consists of a Qualifications Assessment Questionnaire (QAQ) that will be used to evaluate your experience, education, and training. The QAQ is the entire examination and will account for 100% of your score. Candidates will receive notification of their score by mail.
